Neighborhood Picnic Recap

Even the rain couldn’t wash away all the smiles at Saturday’s neighborhood picnic. Over 200 neighbors turned out to enjoy food and entertainment provided by the Winona Woods Neighborhood Association from 12-5 PM on Winona Boulevard between Chestnut Hill and Chapel Hill Drive.

A bake sale, 50/50 raffle, Clifford the Big Red Dog, a coloring contest and yard games kept children and adults busy on the beautiful lawn of Trinity Communion Church. Food was available for purchase from the Marty’s Meats food truck as well as Eat Me Ice Cream’s bicycle coolers. After the rain, the St. Paul Boulevard Fire Department visited with a Fire Truck to brighten the mood and Irondequoit Supervisor Adam Bello visited in order to judge the coloring contest.

The event raised $1,190 for Winona Woods which will help fund future picnics, community yard sales, monthly meeting space fees, website hosting, printing & duplication as well as provide seed money for future events.

A great big thank you goes out to so many friends of the association. Such as our dedicated Street Captains who sold all the tickets, those kind souls who donated the homemade baked goods, our welcoming hosts at the church and of course to each of the wonderful neighbors who volunteered at the event. But in the end, its all the big (and small) smiles at the picnic we are most thankful for.
