That’s A Wrap: GFC Summer Share
Our Good Food Collective Summer Share was a resounding success. Winona Woods was the first Neighborhood Association to host the program. Thanks to the efforts of Jen Sally and our her team of volunteers over 30 neighborhood families were able to enjoy the deliveries of fresh, locally grown produce for 14 weeks this summer.
While the fruits and vegetables were certainly tasty, this program did more than provide meal ingredients. Thanks to the Good Food Collective many of our neighbors were able to:
- enjoy an “eating adventure” and try unfamiliar produce such as Garlic Scapes and Bok Choy
- share the value of making healthy meals a priority with their children
- learn new skills by sharing recipe ideas
- build community with friendly interactions during the weekly pickups
- Save time and hassle at the grocery store or public market
Based on the success of our Summer Share, the Winona Woods Neighborhood Association has already begun hosting the Fall Share and looks forward to offering a Summer Share again next year!
